Westlake Village, California

 

Westlake Village is a highly affluent community that is located partly in Ventura County and partly in Los Angeles County. The eastern part, in Los Angeles County, is the incorporated city of Westlake Village while the western part in Ventura County is located within the city of Thousand Oaks. Many residents refer to the entire, combined community as Westlake Village or simply, Westlake. Westlake Lake is a man-made lake located in both counties. Westlake Island is in the center of the lake. Westlake Village is in the central part oif the Conejo Valley.

Westlake is surrounded by the Santa Monica MountainsAgoura Hills on the east, and Thousand Oaks to the north and west. Lake Sherwood and Malibu are to the south. North Ranch is located at the north end of Westlake. The Triunfo Creek Park and Pentachacta Trail is also in Westlake Village.

In 1975, a group of 40 homeowner associations in the Westlake Village area of Los Angeles and Ventura counties established the Westlake Joint Board of Homeowners Associations, commonly called the Westlake Joint Board. In 1990, the Westlake Joint Board became incorporated as a nonprofit corporation. The board meets regularly to discuss subjects of common interest or concern.

The Westlake Joint Board currently includes approximately 7,600 homeowners who live in 43 homeowner associations in Westlake Village and Thousand Oaks.

 

Westlake Golf Course

Westlake Golf Course is a public 18 hole regulation length course, designed by golf course architect Ted Robinson. It is located in Westlake Village within the Conejo Valley.

 

Westlake Lake Management Association

The Westlake Lake Management Association was formed to oversee the maintenance of Westlake Lake and is governed by a 33 member Board of Representatives. The board is elected annually by the members of the association who own residential or commercial property around the lake. Board meetings are held monthly at the Westlake Yacht Club at the Landing.

 

The Landing

The Landing at Westlake Lake, in Westlake Village, is one of the most visited places in the Conejo Valley for many reasons. The Landing is home to three fine restaurants that offer great views of the lake, Westlake Island, sailboats, electric boats, and many exotic birds. It is also home to the Westlake Yacht Club and several fine stores. The Landing is located 32123 Lindero Canyon Road, south of the Ventura (101) Freeway, just past Lakeview Road. It is only minutes from central Thousand Oaks, Agoura Hills, and North Ranch.

 

Potrero Valley Creek

Potrero Valley Creek carries excess water from Lake Sherwood Lake to Westlake Lake in Westlake Village during periods of heavy rain. Excess water from Westlake Lake flows to Malibou Lake and then to Malibu Creek where it flows to Malibu Lagoon which is part of the Santa Monica Bay and Pacific Ocean.

 

Los Robles Trail

The Los Robles Trail spans from Westlake Village in the east to the Potrero Valley in the west running through several open space areas including the Los Padres Open Space, Los Vientos, Conejo Ridge, Deer Ridge, Rancho Potrero, and Hope Nature Preserve.

 

Las Virgenes Reservoir

The Las Virgenes Reservoir is located in the hills just south of Westlake Village near Lake Sherwood. The reservoir holds a three to six month supply of treated drinking water for district customers located in Westlake Village, Agoura Hills, Calabasas, Hidden Hills and Old Agoura. The reservoir is owned and maintained by the Las Virgenes Municipal Water District which is governed by an elected five member board of directors.

 

Russel Ranch Park

Russel Ranch Park is a 4.3 acre neighborhood park in Westlake Village located next to the Renaissance community and just northwest of Lake Lindero in Agoura Hills. The park features a softball field, soccer field, children's play area, picnic areas, restrooms, and lots of open space.

 

Three Springs Park

Three Springs Park is a three acre neighborhood park located in the Three Springs community of Westlake Village. The park features a walking-fitness path, several picnic tables, barbeques, lighted basketball courts, a large children's play area, and lots of trees and open space.

 

Canyon Oaks Park

Canyon Oaks Park is a 2.46 acre public park located in the Canyon Oaks neighborhood of Westlake Village. The park features a fitness trail, picnic pavilions and tables, barbeques, basketball, a children's play area, lots of green open space, and great views of the surrounding hills.

 

Berniece Bennett Park

Berniece Bennett Park is a 4.9 acre neighborhood park in Westlake Village located in the First Neighborhood which is east of Westlake Lake. The park features lighted basketball courts, covered picnic tables, walking paths, a children's play area, restrooms, and more. The park is the site for the Saturday in the Park concert series and other special events.

 

Westlake Village Library

The Westlake Village Library is an 11,500 square foot library operated by the County of Los Angeles Public Library. It includes a children's area, teen area, and individual study rooms.

 

Las Virgenes - Malibu

Council of Governments

The Las Virgenes - Malibu Council of Governments (COG) is comprised of the cities of Agoura Hills, Calabasas, Hidden Hills, Malibu, and Westlake Village. COG was established by its members to provide a vehicle for members to engage in regional and cooperative planning and coordination of government services and responsibilities. The members from the five cities meet monthly.

 

Westlake Village Art Guild

The Westlake Village Art Guild, established in 1969, is a non-profit organization that offers its members an opportunity to exhibit their work in competitions and at local art shows. The organization also promotes art education and appreciation in the Conejo Valley. Westlake Village Art Guild is a member of the Arts Council of the Conejo.

 

Westlake Village Community Foundation

The Westlake Village Community Foundation is a non-profit corporation dedicated to promoting and providing charitable, cultural, and educational activities, programs, and services for the benefit of those who live in the City of Westlake Village. The foundation is active in providing scholarships to local high school students.
